Met up with a best friend recently. At the same age, he already owns a Mercedes S320 with a thriving IT business, while I'm still here in MMU. This lead me to ponder about what do I want to do in my life.
a) Be rich? (or die trying to be one)
b) Be happily married? (or forever trying to find the one, *ehem ehem*)
Yet, however I couldn't contemplate living life trying to fulfill either options. Having friends discussing paychecks do not help much. Sure, being rich has it's advantages, but are you sure God wants you to be rich? Could I look back when I'm 50 and say 'I've done what God's created me to do'?
And how bout marriage? Are we so focused in finding the one that we forget to serve God and put God 1st in everything? Our ultimate fulfilment should be from Christ. Getting attached (or hitched) does not transform us into someone else (unlike those romantic movies, *sigh*). We'll still have our worries, problems, troubles and boredom (yea, getting her will not make u less bored)
But one thing's for sure. When we put God 1st in everything, He'll honor us and open doors and make straight paths. The most important thing is not being rich, but being the person God wants you to be. If God called you to be a rubbish collector, then be the best rubbish collector around. That way, you're doing God's will. If God called you to be a millionaire, then don't be a pastor. You'll miss God's will for your life.
'Seek ye 1st the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you'
Hmm, about the life partner/girlfriend thingy? I wonder
